Since earning its official non-profit status in February 2006, SPC has had a Board of Directors that oversee the corporation.
SPC's Board consists of five to nine people who are committed to its Mission and Vision, and either live or work in Springfield. The Board is responsible for conducting the business of the Coalition, overseeing and delegating tasks to the Executive Director, setting policies, and assuming the role of an Executive Director in the absence of one. To encourage youth involvement and leadership opportunities, three board seats are available to youth representatives who attend school or live in Springfield.
Since it's creation in 2006, the SPC Board has been involved in:
- Reviewing by-laws
- Hiring and training staff
- Fundraising
- Maintaining organization's fiscal records
- Contributing to organization's activities
- Collective decision making
The Board meets every month for planning and to review the progress and finances of the organization.
